To ensure <b>long-term availability<\/b> of observations and to <b>advance our knowledge<\/b> of our living environment, continuous innovation is essential to harness novel ideas to <b>shape pioneering satellite missions<\/b>. During the multi-year conception phase of new EO missions, many researches are conducted to prepare the operational exploitation of data. HYGEOS team has <b>in-depth knowledge of the radiative transfer<\/b> into the Earth system (atmosphere, land surface, ocean). In this context, HYGEOS gives support to EUMETSAT in improving or developing new algorithms related to cloud remote sensing products with any instrument being exploited by EUMETSAT. C<sup>3<\/sup>IEL aims to study the development of convective clouds at decametric resolution. The mission concept relies on two satellites, synchronized to observe the same cloudy scene during few hundreds of seconds under different observation angles. HYGEOS prototypes the algorithm to derive the water vapor content above the clouds.<\/p>\n<p>In preparing future missions, HYGEOS has <strong>a growing activity in producing test data<\/strong> to anticipate the L1 data flow from future missions at both the agencies level and end-user&#8217;s level. The latest contribution is the production of simulated Top-Of-Atmosphere (TOA) radiance for the Multi-Angle Polarimeter (MAP) and Cloud Imager (CLIM) instruments for the evaluation of data processing of the forthcoming Copernicus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eumetsat.int\/co2m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CO<sub>2<\/sub> Monitoring Mission<\/a> (CO<sub>2<\/sub>M), one of the 6 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/Applications\/Observing_the_Earth\/Copernicus\/Copernicus_Sentinel_Expansion_missions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Copernicus Sentinel Expansion missions<\/a>. CO<sub>2<\/sub>M will measure atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by human activity with the objective to assess the effectiveness of EU policy measures, and to track their impact towards decarboning Europe and meeting national emission reduction targets.<\/p>\n<p>HYGEOS participates also in a Framework contract, together with other French companies, to perform <strong>studies and software development of Level 2 algorithms<\/strong> in support to the CNES activities related to the processing and quality of Earth Observation imagery. In particular, HYGEOS participates in the preparatory studies of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cnes.fr\/en\/projects\/trishna\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TRISHNA<\/a> (Thermal Infra-Red Imaging Satellite for High-resolution Natural Resource Assessment) mission, a collaborative endeavour between the CNES and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isro.gov.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indian Space Research Organisation<\/a>. Some activities consist in developing the different masks (clouds, water, sea ice) that will be provided in the TRISHNA Level 2A products. Other focus on the retrieval of the land surface temperature and the emissivity, by the improvement of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2072-4292\/15\/2\/517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DirecTES<\/a> algorithm, and on the assessment of the uncertainties associated to LST and emissivity. HYGEOS contributes also to optimize the software, operated by CNES, to process the in-situ measurements used for the calibration and validation of the thermal infrared missions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-builder-row-inner fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start fusion-flex-content-wrap\" style=\"width:102% !important;max-width:102% !important;margin-left: calc(-2% \/ 2 );margin-right: calc(-2% \/ 2 );\"><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column_inner fusion-builder-nested-column-6 fusion_builder_column_inner_1_1 1_1 fusion-flex-column\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;--awb-width-large:100%;--awb-margin-top-large:0px;--awb-spacing-right-large:0.98%;--awb-margin-bottom-large:0px;--awb-spacing-left-large:0.98%;--awb-width-medium:100%;--awb-order-medium:0;--awb-spacing-right-medium:0.98%;--awb-spacing-left-medium:0.98%;--awb-width-small:100%;--awb-order-small:0;--awb-spacing-right-small:0.98%;--awb-spacing-left-small:0.98%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-column-has-shadow fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\"><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-margin-bottom:0px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\"><h2>&#8230; based upon the expertise gained in many previous projects.<\/h2><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\" style=\"--awb-content-alignment:justify;\"><p>HYGEOS has participated to the preparation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eumetsat.int\/metop-sg-instruments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the METimage and 3MI missions<\/a> that fly on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eumetsat.int\/metop-sg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Metop-SG spacecraft of the EUMETSAT Polar System-Second Generation (EPS-SG) mission<\/a>. HYGEOS contributed to the production of Level 1B and Level 1C simulated data used to test the ground segment. HYGEOS has also <strong>developed the cloud product Level 2 algorithms for the METImage and 3MI sensors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\" style=\"--awb-content-alignment:justify;\"><p>Similarly, HYGEOS has participated to the preparation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eumetsat.int\/meteosat-third-generation-instruments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flexible Combined Imager (FCI) that flies on the MTG-I satellite<\/a> (Meteosat third Generation \u2013 Imager) by simulating Level 1 test data and by contributing to the improvement of the Optimal Cloud Analysis (OCA) retrieval algorithm.<\/p>\n<p>HYGEOS has developed a <strong>cloud retrieval algorithm focusing on ice clouds<\/strong> for the future <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/Applications\/Observing_the_Earth\/FutureEO\/A_new_satellite_to_understand_how_Earth_is_losing_its_cool\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FORUM<\/a> (Far-infrared Outgoing Radiation Understanding and Monitoring) mission, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/Applications\/Observing_the_Earth\/FutureEO\/Earth_Explorers_ESA_s_pioneering_science_missions_for_Earth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">9<sup>th<\/sup> ESA Earth Explorer mission<\/a>. By measuring radiation emitted by Earth into space, FORUM will provide new insight into the planet\u2019s radiation budget and how it is controlled.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text
