style=\"--awb-content-alignment:justify;\"><p>The radiative transfer is at the heart of HYGEOS research and development activities. We have an <strong>in-depth understanding of the physical processes<\/strong> governing the interactions of solar radiation with atmospheric components, water, vegetation and soil. Associated with high programming skills and up-to-date technologies, we develop <strong>innovative methodologies<\/strong> to process ground-based and satellite sensors data to retrieve Earth surface and atmospheric physical properties.<\/p>\n<p>The continuous and long-term investment of HYGEOS in research and innovation is translated through numerous <a href=\"https:\/\/hygeos.com\/en\/publications\/\"><strong>scientific publications<\/strong><\/a> in peer-reviewed journals. It also allows to develop highly-performing tools like <a href=\"https:\/\/hygeos.com\/en\/polymer\/\"><strong>Polymer<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hygeos.com\/en\/smart-g\/\"><strong>SMART-G<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/hygeos.com\/en\/smac-cl\/\"><strong>SMAC-CL.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-2 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\">Examples of current research topics<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\" style=\"--awb-content-alignment:justify;\"><p>In her <a href=\"https:\/\/hygeos.com\/en\/air-quality\/\"><strong>air quality<\/strong><\/a> activities, HYGEOS works on an integrated approach to enhance the <strong>modelling of second organic aerosols. <\/strong>These latter\u00a0are produced via the oxidation of intermediate and anthropogenic volatile organic compounds. A <strong>new desert dust and sea-salt aerosol emission scheme<\/strong>, based upon <strong>machine learning technique<\/strong>, is also in development.<\/p>\n<p>In her <a href=\"https:\/\/hygeos.com\/en\/water-quality\/\"><strong>water quality<\/strong><\/a> activities, HYGEOS works on the improvement of the <strong>atmospheric corrections over transitional waters<\/strong> (estuaries, lagoons and deltas) by <strong>taking into account the benthic and adjacency effects<\/strong>. The retrieval of <strong>seafloor reflectance and of a satellite-derived bathymetry<\/strong> is also investigated, in particular to characterize the presence of underwater HYGEOS invests in supervising doctoral students. <strong>Fourth PhDs were defended at HYGEOS.<\/strong> One was at the origin of the <a href=\"https:\/\/hygeos.com\/en\/polymer\/\">POLYMER<\/a> algorithm. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loa.univ-lille.fr\/documents\/LOA\/formation\/theses\/2021_Moulana.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last one<\/a>\u00a0studied the interactions between the solar radiation on one hand, and the atmosphere, the ground surface and any objects on the other hand.
