ESA Ocean Colour CCI+ Phase 2 has kicked off
HYGEOS has been involved in the ESA Ocean Colour Climate Change Initiative since the beginning of the project. In this context, it has been developing the Polymer atmospheric correction algorithm for consistently processing multiple satellite missions, merged in a stable, error-characterized and validated global data product, delivered to the international science community.
After the phase 1 of CCI+ initiated in 2019, the Phase 2 has just started, with a kick-off meeting hold on 30th May 2025, and will last 2 years.
During this period, HYGEOS will continue improving and optimizing Polymer by working on the algorithm applicability and stability. In particular, challenging cases such as absorbing aerosols and upwelling areas will be addressed. Additionally, developing the error characterization will be further developed.
