Successful CAMAERA General Assembly

HYGEOS coordinates the CAMS AERosol Advancement (CAMAERA) project. This Horizon Europe-funded project aims at enhancing the quality of the aerosol products delivered by the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) through improvements of the modelling capabilities and data assimilation aspects of the CAMS regional and global systems.

On 4th and 5th of June 2025, HYGEOS hosted the CAMAERA General Assembly in Lille. The face-to-face meeting allowed for numerous and fruitful exchanges that will boost the project’s results. Discussions topics included the choice of stations of lidar/ceilometer data assimilation, in synchronization with the ongoing work of the Horizon Europe CAMEO project, different dust emission schemes, the limitations of remote sensing Leaf Area Index (LAI) for the representation of dry deposition and biogenic aerosols/precursors emissions, different schemes available for the representation of dry deposition and of fungal spores and more. Presentations are available here.

CAMAERA is one project of the CAMS-related activities of HYGEOS, translating the strong HYGEOS’ involvement in the air quality thematic.
